The Chinese military conducted aerial and naval drills southwest of Taiwan Island on Friday, according to Shi Yi, the spokesperson of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command.

Highlighting both patrols and combat, the drills mobilized combat ships, early warning aircraft and bombers, and aimed to enhance the integrated and joint combat capability of the theater.

The spokesperson also noted that drills like the one on Friday will be held regularly in accordance with the situation in the Taiwan Strait and the need to safeguard China’s sovereign integrity.
