The Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) was held from April 25 to 27, 2019 in Beijing.
With the theme, "Belt and Road Cooperation, Shaping a Brighter Shared Future," the second forum aims to brainstorm on interconnected development and create more high-quality cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) proposed by China six years ago.
A total of 126 countries and 29 international organizations have signed 174 BRI cooperation documents with China as of April 20, 2019.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has been underscoring dialogue and coordination in BRI building and calling for inclusive growth.
"The pursuit of the Belt and Road Initiative is not meant to reinvent the wheel. Rather, it aims to complement the development strategies of countries involved by leveraging their comparative strengths," Xi said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the first BRF in Beijing on May 14, 2017.
He has been promoting the building of a "community of shared future."
"The Belt and Road Initiative embodies our shared dream for a better life. The Initiative weaves into a common vision the dreams of different countries and peoples. We will work to translate this vision into reality and deliver greater happiness and well-being to our people," Xi said in his toast at the welcome banquet for distinguished guests to the last BRF.
The world has different time zones, but similar dreams go beyond them.
No matter how big the world is, dreams will go on.
