The surgical gloves and isolation gowns and masks for donation
The daughter and son of Dr. ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury helping to carry the boxed masks from India.
Khwaja M Khalid (KK) from Bangladesh is doing a Master of Engineering in Fluid Mechanics at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi’an. After living in Xi’an for almost 7 years, he has felt warmth here and it has turned into a home for him. This year is a bit different from every Chinese New Year he spent in Xi’an.
Writing on international social media, purchasing medical materials such as surgical masks and protective clothing……KK is quite busy this vacation.
I would like to thank my university for whatever they are doing to protect us. I felt this is a test for all of us. The authority showed a full passion for responsibility towards us. Then, I felt this epidemic taught us patience and care for others. We have to fight it together. China is our second home and we are responsible for our home and people. And as human beings, it is a core responsibility for all of us to stand together. The countries of the world also showed a supportive and peaceful gesture. It has made me feel good.
Since I didn’t go anywhere since the outbreak happened, I have experienced it fully. It is like a long holiday resting at home. Mainly I am working on my research and thesis, watching movies, reading books, practicing some little photography on campus. I have also ordered some studio lights to learn the use of studio lights in my room. Besides, I have improved my cooking skills. I tried to write more about the epidemic on international social media to lower the panic among people. After the epidemic, I would like to share my experience more on international social media to show what steps should be taken in an epidemic.
An epidemic or a danger shows us a friend, gives us an opportunity to practice humanity. Donations of the mask isn’t a job done by me alone. One of my friend Ovi also donated several hundred masks to the university when they have asked help. And there are many more who has done it. I had the plan to donate some 2000 masks. My friends helped me by lending money to pre-order the masks. When I was trying to arrange them, one of my junior at the university Shahed took the initiative to raise money from the NPU groups to collect some medical utilities such as sterilized isolation gown and surgical gloves from my country Bangladesh. We shared the idea and made a team. Special thanks to Shahed for taking the initiative to everyone. In that team (Shahed, Irfan, Luo, Partha, Anelya, Stay and me), every one helped to collect money and also supported us in groups. A lot of students, teachers and even students who are not NPU students came forward to help us.
We could place an order of 2100 surgical masks from India. Finding masks aren’t easy at all these days, but the person who helped us a lot to achieve the goal is Dr. ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, a Ph.D. fellow of Xi’an Jiaotong University, who was traveling to India with his family. His hard work and dedication helped us to find and post them from India. Special gratitude to Khusnetdinova Agdaliya, Mahmood Shah Ovi, NH Anik Chowdhury, and Asif Hasnat Monon. An epidemic or a danger shows us a friend, gives us an opportunity to practice humanity. That is all we had in our minds. We stand for each other.
