China launched optical remote sensing satellite Gaofen-11 at 11 am on Tuesday through a Long March-4C rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center.

The satellite, as part of the country's high-resolution Earth observation project, is expected to contribute to the land survey, city planning, crop estimates and disaster relief.

Gaofen-11 was on the 282nd mission of China’s Long March rockets. Its data will also be used for the Belt and Road Initiative.

Tuesday’s launch comes two days after the launch of two Beidou navigation satellites on Sunday.
