Kunxun was born in Beijing in December 2008 and after 3 months she was taken to Kunming, Yunnan province to receive professional training.

The dog was cloned from a seven-year-old police dog that was famous for its combat capabilities.

The affinity of the two dogs has been confirmed by a third party organization, as tests show their DNA similarity reaches over 99.9 percent.
