China to strengthen cooperation with Czech in people-to-people exchanges

Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan said that China will consolidate and expand sound cooperation in the cultural and people-to-people fields with the Czech Republic, such as fields of education, health, sports and tourism.

She met with the Czech Republic's President Milos Zeman and Prime Minister Andrej Babis on Monday in Prague.

Sun said that pragmatic cooperation between the two countries has been fruitful, under the Belt and Road Initiative and the 16+1 Cooperation framework.  

Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with President Zeman for seven times during the past five years, which leads development direction of China-Czech relationship in the new era, Sun noted.

She added that 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and China is willing to accelerate strategic synergy on the basis of mutual respect and equal treatment. 

President Zeman responded that the two sides agree to deepen friendly cooperation which benefits the fundamental interests of the two peoples. 

The Czech Republic is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China in people-to-people fields, especially football and ice hockey, he added.

Sun also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in people-to-people exchanges while meeting with Czech Republic's Prime Minister Babis.
