LUSAKA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- A local firm in central Zambia's Kabwe town has embarked on a geo-thermal exploration project to start producing electricity from natural heat from the soil.

Kalahari GeoEnergy said it has so far completed the drilling of eight temperature gradients holes and also started working at a geo-thermal resource area which has shown positive results for natural heat. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambia's investment agency has urged investors to explore the vast potential in the country's energy sector as evidenced by the high demand for electricity.

Matongo Matamwandi, acting director-general of the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) said Zambia's energy sector provided opportunities for investment for thermal power because of availability of coal and biomass. (Daily Nation)
