Ministry Minutes | China willing to support reconstruction in accordance with Nepal's needs: foreign ministry

China is willing to assist within its capacity in Nepal's post-disaster reconstruction and in accordance with the latter's needs, foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Thursday.

Guo made the remark at a regular press briefing in Beijing in response to a question about the disastrous mudslide that occurred recently at the Gyirong-Rasuwa border crossing between China and Nepal.

"After the mudslide occurred, as China was urgently carrying out rescue and self-rescue operations, it immediately extended a helping hand to Nepal and supported Nepal's emergency disaster relief efforts," he said.

Guo said that as a traditional friendly neighbor, China is willing to provide assistance, to the best of its ability, to post-disaster reconstruction based on Nepal's needs.

"It is believed that under the leadership of the Nepalese government, the Nepalese people will surely overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes at an early date," he said.
