SINGAPORE, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 1.45 percent, or 45.02 points, to close at 3,065.33.
A total of 1.58 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.11 billion Singapore dollars (about 799.88 million U.S. dollars). gainers equaled losers by 119 to 332.
The STI index went down 0.56 percent, or 17.39 points, to close at 3,110.35 on last Friday.
