Ukraine, Sweden eye greater economic cooperation

KIEV, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and visiting Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven discussed deepening economic cooperation, the president's website reported Wednesday.

"I believe that today we have taken another important step in strengthening our partnership with our Swedish friends," Zelensky said here during a joint press conference with Lofven after the meeting.

Sweden is one of the largest trading partners of Ukraine in northern Europe and is an important investment partner, Zelensky said.

"We are very interested in large-scale projects on alternative and renewable energy, energy security, agriculture, IT sector, infrastructure," he added.

Lofven said he hopes for stronger trade and investment relations between the two countries.

"At present, Ukraine's export has reached record levels ... the potential for further investment and relations is very promising," he said.
