Reaching a consensus is very important for the Belt and Road initiative. By building a shared future for mankind, the world can better tackle challenges such as the emerging "trade war" and settle differences to make the world a better place, said Fu Yuning, Chairman of China Resources (Holdings) Co.

He made the remarks at the China Development Forum (CDF), hosted by the Development Research Center of the State Council. With "China in the New Era" as its theme, this year's CDF addressed key topical issues, including high-quality development, fiscal and tax systems reform, supply-side structural reform and financial policies, opening-up on all fronts, China's manufacturing in high-quality development stage, innovation and future development.

As the coordinator of the panel discussion, Fu noted that the BRI has turned the blueprint of building a community with a shared future for mankind into reality. China has signed cooperation agreements with 86 countries and international organizations. Under the BRI framework, trade and investments expand significantly, also giving a boost to world economy.

Along with opportunities, challenges also remain. In the discussion, guest speakers shared views on how to confront the "trade war" started by the Trump Administration, how to ensure a peaceful and prosperous future between China and Australia, how to give a full play to Hong Kong in China's economic development and how to build a sustainable development mechanism of BRI.

Fu added that it's important to reach a consensus among different parties when promoting the projects of BRI, making sure that the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration is fully implemented.
