SHENYANG, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -Chinese President Xi Jinping has stressed on the revitalization of China's northeast region with fresh efforts.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks on Friday at a symposium held in the northeastern province of Liaoning during a research trip from Tuesday to Friday to the provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning.

To revitalize the region, China should deepen reform to tackle contradictions, inspire innovation with strong dynamism, stick to the new development philosophy, enhance the advantages of green development, deeply integrate the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and make more efforts to improve people's livelihood, Xi said.

Deepening reform means to strengthen the confidence and work hard to solve outstanding contradictions, focus on improving the supply-side structural reform, release the vitality and improve the efficiency and take measures to create conditions for talents, he added.

We should focus on nurturing and stimulating new momentum for development, inspiring innovation with strong dynamism. We should rely on innovation to make the real economy stable and strong, the president said.

It is necessary to foster the development of a modern metropolitan area, strengthen cooperation in key areas of the region and stick to the new development philosophy, Xi elaborated.

He also said the government should continue to support ecological construction, food production and enhance the advantages of green development. It is of vital importance to make full use of the unique resources and advantages of the northeast region to promote the development of local economy.

Xi noted that the northeast region should deeply integrate the BRI and seek for open and cooperative development mode. It is also necessary to improve the infrastructure of key border ports and achieve multilateral cooperation and win-win results.

More efforts should be made to improve people's livelihood and let the people share the fruits of the revitalization of the northeast region, Xi said. It is necessary to increase investment in the public infrastructure sector in the northeast and support the construction of urban infrastructures such as rail transit, heating, and broadband network in the region.
