Amassed robots battle at Beijing conference

More than 10,000 design groups from some 20 countries and regions competed in robot design, combat and matches at the World Robot Conference 2018 in the Beijing Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center that ended Sunday after five days of exhibition. 

More than 160 companies from home and abroad showcased their achievements at the conference in Yizhuang Economic Development Zone, which included the competition, an exhibition, forum and introductions to applications of robotic technologies in civilian and military sectors.

Some 300 world experts from China, Russia, US, Germany, Japan and South Korea joined in the discussion of over 20 forums talking about international cooperation, innovation, artificial intelligence, new applications and market exploration during the three-day event from August 16 to 18. Meanwhile, 16 international organizations, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the British Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Russian Association of Robotics (RAR), and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE RAS), participated in the conference as the supporting institutions.

Since it was initiated in 2015, the robot show has never failed to draw government support and attract technology companies, media and fans from China and abroad.

More than 150 well-known enterprises and scientific research institutions of home and abroad, including Siemens, HIT Robot Group, and CITIC-Heavy Industries demonstrated their latest achievements in artificial intelligence systems, industrial robots, service robots and other special robots. Among them, the robot application exhibition area showcased the underwater robot, military robot and space robot, as well as presented the robot production line, bringing a new experience for the audience.

One highlight of the exhibition was the ground unmanned systems show in which some new unmanned robots such as off-road robotic motors and bionic robots were on display.

Chinese Vice Premier Liu He launched the conference and as joined by officials from Beijing municipal government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China and China Association for Science and Technology.
