Beijing took the first spot in Chinese cities' business environment evaluation published on Thursday.

Compiled by China Media Group, the 2019 annual business environment report evaluated 36 Chinese cities, namely four municipalities, 27 provincial-level capitals, and five other large cities on such indicators as infrastructures, human resources, financial service, governance environment and innovation.

Beijing scored 93.67 in the evaluations, followed by Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Chongqing.

It was a first third-party authoritative business environment report published by a mainstream media organization.

The report said improving business environment plays an important role in promoting a city's high-quality development.
