BEIJING - German auto brand BMW is recalling 1,546 motorcycles in the Chinese market due to defective break hoses, according to China's market regulator.

Starting June 20, BMW China Automotive Trading Ltd recalled a part of imported C650GT, C650SPORT and C600SPORT motorcycles manufactured between Jan 10, 2012 and March 1, 2018, according to a statement by the State Administration for Market Regulation.

With the increases of mileage, the problematic front break hoses on these motorcycles may malfunction, causing brake fluid leakage and braking performance declining, which could lead to safety hazards under extreme circumstances, the statement said.

The company will check and replace the defective parts free of charge.
