LONDON, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.73 percent, or 102.54 points, to close at 5,832.52 points.

Rolls-Royce Holdings, a UK-based engineering company, soared 8.39 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Just Eat Takeaway and Standard Chartered increased by 2.06 percent and 1.61 percent, respectively.

Mondi, an international packaging and paper group, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.59 percent. Pearson, a British multinational publishing and education company, dropped 4.36 percent. Burberry Group, a British luxury fashion company, fell 4.31 percent.
