The Chinese automaker BYD will deliver 115 electric buses to the Indian city of Pune over the next three months, following the delivery of the first batch of 10 buses on Thursday. Once the vehicles have all been delivered, the city will have the biggest fleet of electric buses in India.

All of the vehicles are manufactured at BYD's factory in India.

Pune is the second largest city of India's Maharashtra state. It is a significant transportation hub and manufacturing base in western India. The city has been promoting the use of electric buses to reduce air pollution.

Pune is also an important auto manufacturing base in India – it's home to the headquarters of the country's auto giant Tata Motors. The general manager of the Indian branch of BYD said it means a lot for his company to receive orders in Pune.

BYD also has operations in other Indian cities, including Bombay and Hyderabad. The company delivered the largest share of the electric buses in use in India, and has also shipped electric buses to countries including Chile, Nepal, Japan, and Hungary.
