The first shipment of frozen pork reserves to Wuhan left Shanghai Monday morning, said China’s top economic planner.

Beijing tapped its central reserves to ensure food supply in Wuhan, which has isolated itself for more than two weeks to slow down the spread of novel coronavirus.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said a total of 2,000 tonnes of frozen pork are expected to come to Wuhan by Saturday. 

The pork will be released into Wuhan markets as supplies in the city turn tight, said the NDRC.
