China remains an important stabilizer and driving force of global economic growth, and the country is capable of meeting new goals and creating greater miracles into the future, Sun Yeli, a spokesperson for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), told a press conference on Saturday.

China's development still has many favorable conditions, Sun said. "The Chinese economy enjoys strong resilience, great potential and robust vitality, and the fundamentals for its long-term positive growth remain unchanged," he said.

Asked about the impact of China's regulation on disorderly expansion of capital on the confidence of private and foreign capitals, Sun said that the private sector is an important economic foundation for upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics. Entrepreneurs of private economy are an important force that the Party must unite and rely on in its long-term rule, he said.

China is a country that practices rule of law. No matter it is State owned or private capital, domestic or foreign investment, they are all protected by law in China. We will draw on the positive practices in other countries, and strike a balance between regulation and development. China will continue to be a popular destination for investment, he said.

China has introduced more than 2,000 reform programs over the past ten years, covering various economic and social fields, according to Sun. The reform tasks outlined by the third plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee have in general been accomplished, and those set after the 19th CPC National Congress are pressing ahead with implementation, he said.

Noting that reform is an ongoing process, Sun said there are still many tough issues to address while making efforts to enhance high-level self-reliance in science and technology, build a high-standard market system, ensure food, energy and resource security, forestall and defuse risks, and promote overall economic and social green transformation.

The 20th CPC National Congress will envision the two stages toward building a great modern socialist country in all respects and set out strategic tasks and major measures for the next five years, Sun said. "We have the confidence, resolve and capability to meet new goals and create greater miracles on the way forward," he noted.
