China’s domestically-built regional jet, the ARJ21, completed its first international trip after landing in Russia’s Vladivostok Saturday afternoon.

The flight from Harbin, capital city of China’s northernmost province Heilongjiang, lasted 63 minutes, said Chengdu Airlines, which brought in the jet in 2016 to help serve regional flights.

The ARJ21 aircraft is the first regional passenger jetliner developed by China with independent intellectual property rights. The opening of the Harbin-Vladivostok route will give full play to the its advantage as a regional jet. The route is also expected to strengthen economic and trade exchanges, personnel communication and friendly cooperation between the two nations.

The jet conducted its first commercial flight from Chengdu to Shanghai in June 2016, marking a milestone in China’s development of its civil aircraft industry. The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, producer of the ARJ21 and the country’s major aerospace manufacturer, has delivered 19 ARJ21 jets to clients, all of which are domestic airliners.
