Chinese shares close higher by midday Tuesday.

China's major stock indices ended higher by midday Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.32 percent at 2,915.87 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.64 percent at 9,090.18 points. The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises,

gained 0.88 percent to 1,508.11 points.

The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, are major indices reflecting the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Shenzhen SME ended up at 5,684.53 points, up 1.41 percent.

The CSI 300 Index closed at 3,712.89 points, gaining 0.77 percent. The CSI 300 Index is a free-float weighted index that consists of 300 A-share stocks listed on the Shanghai or Shenzhen Stock Exchanges.
