China's mobile phone shipments decline in November

BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's mobile phone shipments fell 18.2 percent year on year to 35.37 million units in November, according to a report released Monday.

Total shipments during the January-November period reached 379 million units, down 15.6 percent from the same period last year, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a scientific research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said in its report.

4G phone shipment stood at 33.58 million, down 16.9 percent year on year, accounting for 94.9 percent of the total shipments in November, according to the institute.

Chinese phones accounted for 86.4 percent of the total shipments in November with a 17.9-percent decline year on year to some 30.5 million units.

The report also showed the number of new models launched last month decreased 49.4 percent year on year.
