China's poverty reduction experience in rural areas shows that the digitalization of agriculture is a key means to improve the production efficiency of agricultural products, said Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC) of China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) on Monday.

A research report released by CAITEC revealed that according to related policies, China's internet firms partnering in poverty reduction works and Alibaba's project to support individual farmers was a good example.

The famers help project initiated by Alibaba enhanced the construction of a digital system between local agricultural products warehouse and cold chain logistic network, which can reduce the damage rate of agricultural production during transportation and accelerate the standardize process of agricultural products.

The report noted that even though most developing countries have different conditions to China, initiatives similar to Alibaba's project could be replicated in other countries.

CAITEC said China had made a genuine contribution to the global poverty reduction by the efforts undertaken across the country's rural areas. China will increase international cooperation with other developing countries via private departments or companies in future.
