China's top 5 exporting regions do nearly 70 pct of national total exports

BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) -- China's top five exporting provincial-level regions in the first five months of the year reported combined exports of 660.6 billion US dollars in the period, or 68.9 percent of the national total, said the top economic planner.

Zhejiang and Shandong saw their exports rise 2.6 percent and 0.6 percent year on year, respectively, to reach 127.2 billion dollars and 62.8 billion dollars, data from the National Development and Reform Commission showed.

Exports of Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shanghai stood at 240.1 billion dollars, 154.6 billion dollars and 76 billion dollars, down 1.5 percent, 0.9 percent and 6.4 percent, respectively.

China's foreign trade of goods rose 4.1 percent year on year to 12.1 trillion yuan in the first five months. Exports increased 6.1 percent to 6.5 trillion yuan during the period, while imports grew 1.8 percent to 5.6 trillion yuan, according to customs data.
