The Indian government's practices have hindered the improvement of the Indian business environment and the innovative development of related industries. We urge India to immediately correct this discriminatory practice and avoid causing more harm to the relationship, Ji Rong, spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in India said.

The remark came after media reported Indian government will permanently ban 59 Chinese apps.

The Chinese government has always required Chinese companies to conduct foreign cooperation on the basis of abiding by international rules and local laws and regulations. The Indian government has the responsibility to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of international investors, including Chinese companies, in accordance with WTO rules and market principles, the spokesperson said.

China-India economic and trade cooperation is mutual beneficial. We urge India to immediately correct this discriminatory practice and avoid causing more harm to the cooperation between the two sides, Ji said.

From last year onward, Indian has used the so-called national security as an excuse for consecutive times to ban mobile applications with Chinese background, and the relevant practices obviously violate market principles and WTO rules, Ji added.

India's ministry of electronics and information technology issued an updated notice announcing a permanent a ban on video app TikTok and 58 other Chinese apps in June.

Reuters reported on Monday, citing Indian media reports that the government is not satisfied with the response or explanation given by these companies of their position on compliance with privacy and security requirements, as the government released the high-profile notice seven months ago.
