China, US to proceed with trade talks as planned: MOFCOM

The trade talks between China and the US will proceed to the next step as planned, Gao Feng, spokesperson of China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said at a press briefing Thursday. The two sides had extensive, in-depth and detailed exchanges on trade issues of common concern and other structural issues.

Both sides worked actively to implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, In the next step, they will proceed trade negotiations as planned and pay close attention to the arrangements and schedules of the following negotiations, Gao said.

China and the US held vice-ministerial trade talks from January 7 to January 9, one day longer than the original plan. The length of the talks showed that both sides were serious, solemn and candid toward the talks. China and the US are working towards the consensus reached by leaders of the two sides, Gao added.

The trade talks concluded on January 9 was conducted with a US delegation led by Deputy US Trade Representative Jeffrey Gerrish.
