Chinese car-hailing giant Didi Chuxing on Tuesday announced that it would soon launch a bike-sharing platform under cooperation with companies like Ofo and Bluegogo.

The platform, set up on the company’s car-hailing app, will integrate Ofo and Bluegogo together with other “potential bike-sharing partners.” It will also include its own-branded bike-sharing service. It will introduce a deposit-free arrangement to attract and support more users.

Chinese bike-sharing businesses, led by two giants specifically – Ofo and Mobike - have witnessed exploding growth in the past years. Estimation in December 2017 showed that a total of 74 companies have joined the industry with investments topping 23 billion yuan.

Bluegogo, a former leader in the business, however, saw company failure last November, with many former users complained about the incapability of withdrawing the deposit into the bike-sharing app.

According to Didi, the company has reached an agreement with the troubled Bluegogo, under which users will be able to use Bluegogo bikes on DiDi’s APP with no deposit required. They will also have the option of converting bluegogo deposits, privileges and APP top-up values into DiDi bike and car ride coupons of an equivalent value.

However, Didi refused to comment when asked whether Bluegogo has been purchased by the company, only saying that the company looks forward to working with more partners to support ride-sharing industry.

Didi's cooperation with Bluegogo is not an acquisition deal, a Didi spokesperson said when contacted. He said the company is looking forward to working with more partners to support bike-sharing industry.
