BEIJING - Chinese internet businesses made efforts last year to improve cyber and personal information security, according to the 2020 China Internet Industry Annual Conference.

Held by the Internet Society of China, the annual conference also released 10 demonstrative cases showcasing the internet enterprises' fulfillment of their social responsibilities.

In one case, China's service-focused e-commerce giant Meituan Dianping generated temporary virtual phone numbers for users when they purchased takeout food or booked hotels to protect their privacy.

Qihoo 360, a leading cybersecurity firm in China, blocked about 850 million malicious attacks and 18.75 billion nuisance calls for Chinese mobile phone users last year, as showed in another case.
