Chinese and US officials had "constructive and frank" talks on economic and trade issues of mutual concern in Washington, DC, China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Friday.

"The two sides will maintain contact regarding the next steps," the statement added.

At the invitation of the US, a Chinese delegation led by China’s Vice Minister of Commerce, Wang Shouwen, went to Washington for two-day trade talks, which began on Wednesday. The US delegation was led by Under Secretary for International Affairs of the US Department of the Treasury David Malpass.
