BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index going up 0.5 percent to 3,380.68 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.18 percent higher at 13,478 points.
