BEIJING, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares trended higher at midday Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.42 percent to close at 2,973.71 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index rallied 0.22 percent to 9,154.23 points at midday.
