Chinese shares close higher Friday

BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.07 percent to 3,444.58 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.4 percent higher at 14,026.66 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 748.8 billion yuan (about 114.3 billion U.S. dollars), down from 826.35 billion yuan the previous trading day.

The liquor, non-ferrous metals and oil sectors saw shares rise across the board, while the coal and auto industries saw shares fall.

Shares of Kweichow Moutai Co., Ltd. went up 2.52 percent to close at 1,793.11 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of fast-growing enterprises, gained 0.68 percent to close at 2,730.84 points on Friday.
