BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.86 percent, at 3,502.96 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.47 percent higher at 14,827.47 points.
