BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising 0.66 percent, at 3,369.12 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.01 percent higher at 13,692.13 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 709.7 billion yuan (about 108.5 billion U.S. dollars), down from 834.9 billion yuan in the previous trading day.

Shares related to photovoltaic, medical cosmetic and liquor led the gains.

Everjoy Health Group Co., Ltd rose by the daily limit of 10.13 percent to close at 4.35 yuan per share, while shares of Aoyuan Beauty Valley Technology Co., Ltd jumped 9.97 percent to close at 6.84 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.44 percent to close at 2,726.6 points.
