BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.23 percent, at 2,905.97 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.92 percent higher at 9,087.52 points.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.66 percent to close at 1,493.72 points Tuesday.
The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, is reflecting the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
