BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.8 percent to 2,923.28 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.99 percent higher at 9,266.3 points.
