Chinese shares close lower Monday

BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended lower Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.83 percent, at 2,909.97 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.17 percent lower at 9,680.57 points.

The combined turnover of stocks on the two exchanges stood at 423 billion yuan (about 60.5 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 449.4 billion yuan in the previous trading day.

Most stocks fell, with losers outnumbering gainers by 1,382 to 90 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,932 to 212 in Shenzhen.

Companies in the sector of wireless earphone saw robust growth in share prices, with shares of Hivi Acoustics Technology Co., Ltd. surging by the daily 10-percent limit to close at 2.18 yuan per share.

Shares in the industries of satellite communication and domestic operating system led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.23 percent to close at 1,673.13 points Monday.
