Chinese shares close lower Wednesday

BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.4 percent, at 3,361.52 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.2 percent lower at 12,696.5 points.

Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at about 1.32 trillion yuan (about 196.9 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.22 trillion yuan the previous trading day.

Stocks related to real estate and infrastructure led the gains, while those related to automobile industry chain and sodium-ion battery were among the biggest losers.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.53 percent to close at 2,768.61 points.
