Chinese shares closed lower Wednesday, with brewery and textile machinery sectors leading the decline.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.85 percent, at 2,632.24 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.69 percent lower at 7,908.55 points.

Combined turnover on the two bourses stood at 411 billion yuan (about 59 billion U.S. dollars), down from 455.6 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Sub-indexes for brewery shares dropped by 2.15 percent. Jiangsu Yanghe Brewery Joint-Stock Co., Ltd., a famous liquor brand in China, lost 3.13 percent to finish at 94.38 yuan. Kweichow Moutai Co., Ltd., the country's benchmark liquor brand, went down 2.61 percent to 555.1 yuan.

The textile machinery sector continued its downward trend on Tuesday, with Jingwei Textile Machinery Co., Ltd. dropping by 4.71 percent to close at 13.95 yuan.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, dropped 0.45 percent to close at 1,385.73 points Wednesday.
