BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.15 percent at 2,817.97 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.11 percent lower at 10,592.85 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 490.63 billion yuan (about 68.90 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 592.72 billion yuan seen in the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers 726 to 703 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,173 to 960 in Shenzhen.

Stocks in the dairy, food processing and photoresist industries led the gains, with Beijing Sanyuan Foods Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to end at 5.35 yuan per share.

Companies in the sectors of smart speakers, consumer electronics and communication devices led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.28 percent to close at 2,052.30 points.
