BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.07 percent, at 3,214.5 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.02 percent lower at 11,949.94 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices came in at nearly 870.39 billion yuan (about 136.57 billion U.S. dollars), down from 918.3 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to the property and coal sectors posted stellar performances, while shares related to the food and beverage industry saw major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.66 percent to close at 2,594.13 points.
