BEIJING, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese major stock indices ended mixed Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.05 percent to end at 2,719.7 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.6 percent higher at 8,219.96 points.

The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 417.5 billion yuan (about 61.63 billion U.S. dollars), dropping from 474.1 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Liquor and IPR shares saw a strong performance. The leading liquor maker Sichuan Swellfun Co., Ltd surged by 9.25 percent to 35.42 yuan per share.

Several shares from IPR sector surged in the afternoon, including Elefirst Science & Technology Co., Ltd, which rose by the daily limit of 10 percent to 7.02 yuan per share.

The finance sector suffered a downtrend, with the sub-index down 0.39 percent. Huatai Securities Co., Ltd fell to 19.86 yuan per share, losing 1.78 percent.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.31 percent to close at 1,361.94 points, the fifth consecutive day of increase.
