Chinese shares close mixed Tuesday

BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended mixed Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.6 percent, at 3,013.05 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.71 percent higher at 11,856.08 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.42 trillion yuan (about 202 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 1.22 trillion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 1,118 to 365 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,451 to 718 in Shenzhen.

Mask producers led the gains, with shares of Souyute Group Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to 2.73 yuan.

Stocks related to intelligent cars also notched solid gains, as shares of smart driving solutions provider Shenzhen Roadrover Technology Co., Ltd. hiked by the daily limit to 28.77 yuan apiece.

Meanwhile, mining sector was among the biggest losers, with shares of the Inner Mongolia Xingye Mining Co., Ltd. Limited sliding 5.07 percent to 5.8 yuan.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.03 percent to close at 2,287.31 points.
