BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.17 percent, at 2,928.23.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.14 percent higher at 9,198.79.
The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 351.77 billion yuan ($about 51.1 billion), down from 468.2 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 800 to 573 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,249 to 780 in Shenzhen.
Motorcycle and Fluorochemical industries were the biggest gainers. Do-fluoride Chemicals Co. Ltd. went up by the daily limit of 10 percent to finish at 13.95 yuan, while Xiamen King Long Motor Group Co. Ltd. rose 7.72 percent to 8.93 yuan apiece.
Bucking the trend, infrastructure services sector saw its sub-indexes shrink 1.08 percent.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board, gained 0.74 percent to close at 1,517.79.
