BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.42 percent to close at 2,953.82 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.92 percent lower at 9,005.77 points.

The combined turnover of stocks on the two indices stood at 891.2 billion yuan ($133.2 billion), down from 1.1 trillion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers 833 to 562 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,242 to 820 on the Shenzhen bourse.

The medical equipment sector lost most. Ogawa Intelligent Health Technology Group dropped 5.87 percent to close at 17.17 yuan per share.

Bucking the trend, the shipbuilding industry and aircraft manufacturing industry were among the biggest winners. Asian Star Anchor Chain rose by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 4.73 yuan per share, while Aerospace Hi-Tech Holding Group rose 1.46 percent to close at 12.5 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.72 percent to close at 1,520.42 points on Wednesday.
