BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- China's major stock indices ended lower in the morning session Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.57 percent to end at 2,968.25 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index went down 1.17 percent to end at 9,696.26 points at midday.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, went down 0.98 percent to 1,678.0 points in the morning session Wednesday.

The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, reflects the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
