BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- China's major stock indices ended lower in the morning session Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ending 1.46 percent lower at 3,016.18 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 1.86 percent to end at 10,866.38 points at midday.
