Chinese shares open lower Monday

BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks opened lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.23 percent to open at 2,998.17 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.29 percent lower at 10,203.82 points.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.23 percent to open at 1,763.58 points Monday.
The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, reflects the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
