Douyin and Tik Tok user spending hit record $11.7 million in July

China's short video app Douyin and its overseas version Tik Tok had another record-setting month in July with in-app purchases reaching 11.7 million US dollars, an increase of 290 percent compared with the same time last year.

Data from mobile app intelligence provider Sensor Tower shows that users in China accounted for 70 percent of total purchases, spending nearly 8.2 million US dollars via the Apple Store - a 777 percent year-on-year increase.

Tik Tok users in the United States accounted for 20 percent of in-app purchase revenue in July, spending about 2.3 million US dollars. Revenue in the United States grew by 42 percent compared with last year.

First-time installs of Douyin and Tik Tok reached nearly 54 million globally, not including third-party Android stores in China and other countries and regions.
