Dow falls 138 points, S&P drops for a fourth day

Stocks fell on Thursday, resuming a deep sell-off this week. 

According to CNBC, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 138.97 points at 25,828.36 on Thursday, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.3 percent to 2,870,72 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 0.41 percent to 7,910.59. The Dow is down more than 650 points and the S&P 500 has lost about 2.5 percent this week.

US stocks opened slightly lower on Wednesday, Xinhua reported. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 5.26 points, or 0.02 percent, to 25,959.83. The S&P 500 fell 5.31 points, or 0.18 percent, to 2,878.74. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 14.94 points, or 0.19 percent, to 7,948.81.

Ten of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors traded lower around Wednesday's opening, with the financials sector down around 0.23 percent, leading the losers.

Shares of TripAdvisor tumbled over 12 percent, after the travel review platform reported first-quarter revenue that missed market expectations.

US stocks ended sharply lower on Tuesday, with the Dow diving 473.39 points, or 1.79 percent to 25,965.09, Xinhua reported.
